We have a schenario where the user used to have a bootcamp running Windows 10 on Macbook Pro and wants to streamline this by utilising the MAC OS instead and ditch the bootcamp completely. The only issue that the user ran a Microsoft Access on Windows 10 and unfortuntely it’s not going to work on MAC OS natively.
So what the options?
On the MAC, you need to purchase a license for Parrallel – it’s virtual machine and it can run Windows 10 and intalll Ms Access.
It needs to setup a shared folder on MAC. See this setup – http://download.parallels.com/stm/docs/en/Parallels_Desktop_Users_Guide/22907.htm
There are 2 schenarios on this solution.
One schenatio is that the primary data stored in the Mac machine. With this schenario, we need purchase a license for Amazon Workplaces with Windows 10 installed. Then install the Ms Access. Transferring data is quite challenging as it needs to copy from the local MAC machine to the cloud and once it’s done it needs to copy back to the MAC.
Secondly, the primary data is stored in the Amazon Workplaces dekstop or Amazon File server. Transferring data will be no problem as the data sits within the Amazon networks – so it will be similar like if you are accessing the data at the office connecting to your file server.
Stick with the bootcamp on Macbook Pro. Installed Windows 10 on seperated partition on the disk. Then installed Ms Access and run the operation from that partition.
